>> chopper 11 captures the aftermath. with how this all began. >> inside that gas station, he tells us he was watching out the window as he saw the motorcycle and the trooper came speeding between the pumps. >> right hind where he is standing -- on highway 401 or hilltop road, he psy high-speed chase unfolding just outside the window. he says he watched as the driver of this new motorcycle and state trooper behind him came speeding through the parking lot.

the highway patrol said it all started just after 2:00 where he trooper tried pulling over the man on the motorcycle. he was going 75 in a 45 mile per hour zone, in the glee passing other cars on a double yellow line, instead of stopping for the troopers blue lights. he turned on to hilltop through the gas station parking lot and onto for a one, heading in the wrong direction. they say he quickly slammed head-on into a silver honda sedan. >> it is very nerve-racking, it not something we look for to doing. this is not something we do enjoy. third-party motor speed >> while the driver of the honda was not heard, childress say the man who is trying to get away from him

being treated for serious injuries. and the highway patrol has not yet released the names of the drivers involved in this case and the crash. abc 11 eyewitness news. >> a dramatic crash had crews springing into action. this pickup truck wound up -- the truck and the car collided at the intersection of burlington avenue. we are told at least enough of the people in the car were taken to the hospital. >> the wake county journey who quickly convicted -- in the mother -- in the murder of them mother are considering whether he should die for the crime. the courtroom camera was order turned off for her testimony. hannah jones is now 10 years old and she became emotional, even when talking about finding her mom dad.

as the state prepares to build a new monument that will honor the achievements of african-americans. governor mccrory announced the plans to put up the monument at the state capital. four public hearings will get your feedback on the plans bid the meetings will be held on tuesday in greensboro, rocky mount's and fayetteville. the statue will break a 25 year moratorium on adding new monuments on the capitol grounds. >> you win some you lose some. >> for governor mccrory the panthers super bowl loss meant peanut -- meant paying up on a loss wager. >> let's get this over with. why can't you have a simple name like mccoury? >> governor mccrory had to wear a broncos jersey to make good on his bet with colorado governor john hickenlooper. the governor office putting out this video.

hill today as the educational bond was dissected. the governor and his supporters say the educational bond will recruit students to north carolina and keep employers in state. it is called the school to prison pipeline and what county is taking a step to address the issue that is facing some scrutiny from federal education officials. >> progress is being made in addressing the discipline disparity for african-american students. but a group of parents say that progress is coming to slowly. elaina athans live at one school that is under the microscope right now. >> the most arrests in raleigh. 77, taken into custody. 61 of them were african-american. the stats are frightening. >> based on the numbers

>> she feels there are racial disparities within the wake county school district and she points to the newly released annual report -- annual report. they also accounted for 63% of detention. she is worried not only as a mom but also as a president of concerned citizens of african-american children. the advocacy group says the wake county school board's close policy, practices, and procedures continue to create barriers and racial disparities. >> they need to create strategies that will affect the problem and keep kids in school. >> here is jim martin's response to that. >> can we take long-standing cultures and change them in an instant? no. but i don't believe we have policies that are making it worse.
